Abstract

Pharmaceutical organizations face increasing pressure to achieve environmental sustainability and competitive advantage while managing growing amounts of organizational and environmental data. However, limited research has examined how biostatistical capabilities and digital technology can strengthen data driven decision making and subsequently improve green decision-making quality and green competitive advantage. Therefore, this study examines the effects of biostatistics research, biostatistics attitude, biostatistics knowledge and training, and digital technology on data driven decision making, and further investigates the effects of data driven decision making on green decision-making quality and green competitive advantage. We used a quantitative, cross-sectional research design. Data were collected from employees of pharmaceutical-sector organizations through a self-administered questionnaire. Of 450 distributed questionnaires, 300 valid responses were obtained. Convenience sampling was used, and the data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that biostatistics research, biostatistics attitude, biostatistics knowledge and training, and digital technology have significant positive effects on data driven decision making. Data-driven decision-making significantly influences green decision-making quality, while green decision-making quality significantly contributes to green competitive advantage. The findings suggest that pharmaceutical organizations can strengthen their green competitive advantage by developing employee’s biostatistical knowledge and training, fostering positive attitudes toward statistical evidence, strengthening biostatistical research capabilities, and investing in digital technologies that support data-driven and environmentally responsible decision-making.
